The Chair 65 is an iconic piece of functionalist furniture designed by legendary Finnish architect Alvar Aalto in 1935 for the design company Artek. Built using Aalto’s patented wood-bending technique. Solid birch is sawed open at the ends, filled with plywood inserts, and steamed to form a rigid, load-bearing corner attached directly to the seat. Features a distinct rectangular, slightly curved backrest formed from a single piece of birch plywood. The lower height ensures the chair can be seamlessly pushed fully under tables and desks to save space. Composed of a signature circular seat and four L-legs, allowing for modular assembly and streamlined manufacturing.
