Barcelona Coffee Table Attributed to Mies van der Rohe
The Barcelona Coffee Table is a masterwork of modernist design created by legendary architect Ludwig Mies van der Rohe (in collaboration with Lilly Reich). Originally conceptualised in 1929 for the German Pavilion at the International Exposition in Barcelona, this iconic table was designed to seamlessly complement the world-famous Barcelona Chair. It features a signature sculptural X-shaped base that beautifully expresses the "less is more" philosophy.
Provenance and authenticity: This table comes from the office of a Sydney architect, who advises that they were purchased as an original in the 1980s. No maker’s mark or stamp could be found on this table, and no proof of purchase is available. HFOC has not independently verified the manufacturer or authenticity, and it is offered as a vintage Barcelona-style coffee table, attributed to Knoll only on the owner’s advice. Buyers are welcome to inspect it by appointment and obtain their own opinion before purchase.
