The Elephant Armchair with Wood Frame has been created by Eva Paster and Michael Geldmacher of Neuland for the brand Kristalia. Its unpeered, innovative design caught the eye of critics who awarded it the Interior Innovation Award in 2012.
The Elephant Armchair with Wood Frame gets its name and design from the backbone of an elephant. It is represented in the exterior of the rounded backrest. It has a straight upper edge that dips down slightly as it extends forward. These edges form the armrests. Round cutouts underneath each one are one of the chair's subtle decorative details. The wide backrest has a seat that is also well-sized. The shell is a singular piece with no joints or fasteners which works to give the chair a clean, sleek profile. It is made of polyurethane which is a strong, durable plastic. The shell is supported by a base made of beech wood. It has been fashioned into rounded, outspread legs reinforced by similar rods that form a footrest. The chairs we have on offer are in an earthy terracotta.
